While a cake is considered a dessert in Texas, it is not in Germany. In Germany a cake is a cake and will be eaten in the afternoon, accompanied with some coffee. A dessert is what you have as a sweet ending of your main dish and will be something like a pudding, ice cream or creamy dairy product.

Dampfnudeln / Germknödel – Sweet Dumplings

Skiing in the Alpes comes with eating Germknödel aka Dampfnundeln! If you’ve been there up on the mountain for lunch, this food is what gives you all the energy back that the cold weather sucked out of your body.
